According to UN estimates released on Sunday, more than 3.8 million people have fled Ukraine since Russia’s invasion a month ago, but the tide of refugees has significantly decreased.<\/p>\n

The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, reported that 3,821,049 Ukrainians have departed the nation, up from 3,821,049 on Saturday.<\/p>\n

It goes on to say that 90 percent of them are women and children.<\/p>\n

2.2 million people have fled to neighboring Poland, while more than half a million have made their way to Romania. Nearly 300,000 people have traveled to Russia.<\/p>\n

Prior to the start of the crisis a month ago, Poland was home to 1.5 million Ukrainians.<\/p>\n

In total, more than 10 million people \u2014 over a quarter of the population in regions under government control before the February 24 invasion \u2014 are now thought to have fled their homes, including nearly 6.5 million who are internally displaced.<\/p>\n

Ukraine\u2019s refugee crisis is Europe\u2019s worst since World War II.<\/p>\n

The UN children\u2019s agency, UNICEF, said Thursday that 4.3 million children \u2014 more than half of Ukraine\u2019s estimated 7.5-million child population \u2014 had been forced to leave their homes.<\/p>\n

It puts at some 1.5 million the number of those children<\/a> who have become refugees, while another 2.5 million are displaced inside their war-ravaged country, it said.<\/p>\n

The number leaving daily has fallen well below 100,000 per day, and even 50,000 in recent days, even as living conditions in Ukraine worsen.<\/p>\n

The figures do not include citizens of neighbouring states who have left Ukraine to return home.<\/p>\n

Here is a breakdown of which neighbouring countries Ukrainian refugees have headed to, as of Sunday afternoon. Russia\u2019s figure relates to end Tuesday:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Poland \u2013
\nSix out of 10 Ukrainian refugees \u2014 2,267,103 so far \u2014 have crossed into Poland, according to UNHCR.<\/p>\n

Many people who cross into Ukraine\u2019s immediate western neighbours continue on to other states in Europe\u2019s Schengen open-borders zone.<\/p>\n

Many are also going in the opposite direction. Border guards said earlier in the week that some 274,000 people have left Poland for Ukraine since the war began.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Romania \u2013
\nSome 586,942 Ukrainians have entered EU member state Romania, including a large number who have crossed over from Moldova, wedged between Romania<\/a> and Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The vast majority are thought to have gone on to other countries.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Moldova \u2013
\nThe Moldovan border is the nearest to the major port city of Odessa.<\/p>\n

UNHCR said 381,395 Ukrainians had crossed into the non-EU state, one of the poorest in Europe.<\/p>\n

To reduce congestion, organised convoys leave daily from the Palanca crossing for Romania, with the most vulnerable prioritised for transfer.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Hungary \u2013
\nSome 349,107 Ukrainians have entered Hungary, according to UNHCR.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Russia \u2013
\nSome 271,254 refugees have sought shelter in Russia, according to UNHCR figures last updated on March 22.<\/p>\n

In addition, 113,000 people had crossed into Russia from the separatist-held pro-Russian regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine between February 21 and 23.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Slovakia \u2013
\nSome 272,012 people have crossed Ukraine\u2019s shortest border into Slovakia.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Belarus \u2013
