{"id":168955,"date":"2022-03-29T05:48:24","date_gmt":"2022-03-29T04:48:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=168955"},"modified":"2022-03-29T06:01:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-29T05:01:00","slug":"we-are-proud-that-nigerians-can-travel-safely-by-rail-in-our-time-says-lai-mohammed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/29\/we-are-proud-that-nigerians-can-travel-safely-by-rail-in-our-time-says-lai-mohammed\/","title":{"rendered":"We are proud that Nigerians can travel safely by rail in our time, says Lai Mohammed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of information, Lai Mohammed has stated that the federal government has performed excellently in the provision of infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>This was made known on Monday by Lai Mohammed at\u00a0a media briefing in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the federal government has done well on ensuring safety via rail transport.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u201c<\/span>We are proud that in our time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/29\/video-five-nigerians-arrested-as-police-bust-love-scam-syndicate-in-malaysia\/\">Nigerians<\/a> are once again able to travel by rail, this time in total comfort and safety,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">\u201cLagos-Ibadan, Abuja-Kaduna, Warri-Itakpe-Ajaokuta and Abuja Metroline are shining examples of our rail revolution. And we are just getting started. We\u00a0<\/span>have the rehabilitation of the Port-Harcourt-Maiduguri Eastern Narrow Gauge Railway project that cuts through Rivers, Imo, Anambra, Benue, Enugu, Ebonyi, Gombe, Yobe, Adamawa and Borno states, and the Bonny Deep Sea and Railway Industrial Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the Kano-Maradi standard gauge line that passes through some economic hubs of the country, including Kazaure, Daura, Katsina and up to the border town of Jibiya and the city of Maradi in Niger Republic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lai\u2019s comment comes amid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/24\/ukraine-64-attacks-on-critical-health-infrastructure-recorded-who\/\">attacks<\/a> by gunmen in parts of the country, including an attack on\u00a0a Kaduna-Abuja train in October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that a Lagos-Ibadan train\u00a0stopped mid-way after reportedly running out of diesel.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking further at the media briefing, the minister said the country is becoming safer with the successes being recorded in the fight against insurgency and banditry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud of our security forces, our men and women in uniform. Despite a myriad of security challenges, they are living up to the billing. The recent string of successes recorded in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP is uplifting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the terrorists and their camps are being decimated, thousand of terrorists and their families are surrendering in droves. The effectiveness of the security forces has been enhanced by the leadership provided by President Buhari and the unwavering commitment of the armed forces and its leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe procurement of modern platforms for the armed forces has also gone a long way in raising the level of their operational readiness and efficiency, in addition to boosting their capabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of information, Lai Mohammed has stated that the federal government has performed excellently in the provision of infrastructure.
