{"id":169848,"date":"2022-03-30T19:33:03","date_gmt":"2022-03-30T18:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=169848"},"modified":"2022-03-30T20:43:01","modified_gmt":"2022-03-30T19:43:01","slug":"teenager-removes-boys-eye-for-disappearing-charm-in-kano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/30\/teenager-removes-boys-eye-for-disappearing-charm-in-kano\/","title":{"rendered":"Teenager removes boy\u2019s eye for \u2018disappearing charm\u2019 in Kano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a 17-year-old Isah Hassan, popularly known as Shahidai, for allegedly removing an eye of a 12-year-old Mustapha Yunusa, for a \u2018disappearing charm\u2019 in Dan Tsinke, Tarauni Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>According to the teenager, a 107-year-old traditional herbalist, Sayyada Furera Abubakar, ordered him to bring the eye for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/24\/woman-who-supplies-criminal-charms-to-notorious-bandits-leaders-arrested-in-katsina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">charm<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But Sayyada denied the accusation levelled against her, saying she only wanted to assist Shahidai with traditional medicine.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cI am just a traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/07\/herbalist-3-others-allegedly-dismember-woman-in-lagos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">herbalist<\/a>. He\u2019s lying. I have more than 50 grandchildren and I did not remove theirs. Why should I do that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with Daily Trust, the father of the boy, Dahiru Ahmad, said: \u201cI received a call that my son is at the Murtala Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon arrival, I was told that some bad eggs ambushed, attacked and removed his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/07\/tension-in-delta-community-as-husband-presents-wifes-corpse-without-eyes-tongue-for-burial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eye<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thank God, with the aid of the police and the medical personnel, they have tried their best and the boy has recovered now surviving with one eye.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday, around 1am, I received a call that the boy who removed my son\u2019s eye has been arrested and he has confessed that he committed the offence.<\/p>\n<p>Ali Abdulhamid, the Vigilante commander of Dan Tsinke who arrested the culprit, said: \u201cWe arrested Shahidai along the border of Kumbotso and Tarauni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe removed the boy\u2019s eye two weeks ago and to God be the glory, we arrested him while trying to remove another one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of our personnel reported the case to us that one boy wants to commit a crime and is asking for his support to do it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe told us the nature of the crime and we asked him to go ahead and play along.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom there, he asked him to come along with a knife that he will use in removing the eye and still we asked him to give him and followed them behind to the crime scene where we successfully arrested the culprit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The State police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident said the police is investigating the case and will charge the suspects to court at the end of the investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a 17-year-old Isah Hassan, popularly known as Shahidai, for allegedly removing an eye of a 12-year-old Mustapha Yunusa, for a \u2018disappearing charm\u2019 in Dan Tsinke, Tarauni Local Government Area of the state.
