{"id":170338,"date":"2022-03-31T15:15:54","date_gmt":"2022-03-31T14:15:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=170338"},"modified":"2022-03-31T15:15:54","modified_gmt":"2022-03-31T14:15:54","slug":"nmdpra-reveals-how-its-restored-normalcy-in-petrol-distribution-after-scarcity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/31\/nmdpra-reveals-how-its-restored-normalcy-in-petrol-distribution-after-scarcity\/","title":{"rendered":"NMDPRA reveals how its restored normalcy in petrol distribution after scarcity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has stated that its four-point strategy helped to restore normalcy in the distribution of premium motor spirit (PMS), better known as petrol.<\/p>\n<p>This was stated on Thursday by\u00a0Roselyn Wilkie, zonal operations controller, NMDPRA during an interview with NAN on Thursday in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the NMDPRA on February 8 confirmed\u00a0that petrol with methanol quantities above Nigeria\u2019s specification was discovered in the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>The development had caused scarcity of petrol and resulted in long queues in filling stations across Lagos and Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Listing the measures adopted by the agency, Wilkie said the NMDPRA ensured that there was no diversion of the product, no hoarding, no selling in jerry-cans and also discouraged hawking of the product.<\/p>\n<p>She said the regulatory authority encouraged dispensing of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/22\/nlc-to-dss-go-after-importers-of-adulterated-petroleum\/\">petroleum<\/a> products with maximum available pumps at fuel stations.<\/p>\n<p>Wilkie said increase in product supply and distribution were also major factors that ensured that normalcy returned to the system.<\/p>\n<p>On the activities of black marketers, she said NMDPRA was working tirelessly to ensure that all roadside sellers of PMS in jerry-cans are eradicated from the streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur major concern is safety of lives and property as we understand the volatile nature of petrol and its hazards,\u201d Wilkie said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has stated that its four-point strategy helped to restore normalcy in the distribution of premium motor spirit (PMS), better known as petrol.
