Former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has reacted to Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff defeat to Ghana on Tuesday, March 2.<\/p>\n

Rohr revealed that his target for Nigeria was to qualify the team for the quarter-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Rohr was sacked as Super Eagles head coach<\/a> by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, just a few weeks before the commencement of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.<\/p>\n

The German tactician was replaced by Augustine Eguavoen<\/a> on an interim basis, who resigned on Thursday, after failing to qualify the Super Eagles for the world cup.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Brila.net, Rohr said: \u201cOh yes, there was a big disappointment after this match (on Tuesday).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had all the hope that Nigeria would qualify and believe that the better players are in Nigeria, not in Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut sometimes the collective work of a team can be stronger than the individual strength of the other team.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy target was to go to the World Cup in Qatar and to go at least to the quarter-final and to have a good image of Nigerian football like we had in the last five years.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
