{"id":171222,"date":"2022-04-02T13:42:24","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T12:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=171222"},"modified":"2022-04-02T13:42:24","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T12:42:24","slug":"group-endorses-amaechi-for-2023-presidency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/02\/group-endorses-amaechi-for-2023-presidency\/","title":{"rendered":"Group endorses Amaechi for 2023 presidency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of concerned Nigerians, the Secretariat has endorsed minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi for the 2023 presidency.<\/p>\n<p>In a 86-page document unveiled by the group, it said Amaechi has the \u201cintellect, experience and worth ethic\u201d to move Nigeria forward as president in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The transportation minister has not officially declared interest in the 2023 presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>In March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/14\/boko-haram-is-relocating-to-north-west-says-nasir-el-rufai\/\">Nasir el-Rufai<\/a>, governor of Kaduna said Amaechi is interesed in becoming\u00a0president of the country in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time he took office, River state was beset by many challenges including escalating violence, crumbling infrastructure, a dilapidated school system and weary citizens,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe brought the experience he had gained as the two-time speaker of the state house of assembly to bear as a governor \u2014 building bi-partisan relationships, implementing bold ideas and leading from the front.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs much as Amaechi\u2019s tribe and geo-political zone give him an advantage, he also has the advantage of being a candidate who is a true national figure \u2013 recognized all over Nigeria, with friends and allies across the length and breadth<br \/>\nof the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome people vying for office also have recognizable names but are identified so resolutely with their tribe or zone that they cannot be effective national consensus candidates. Few of Amaechi\u2019s contenders have had the same opportunity or share the same disposition that allows him to travel to every state of the federation, forge alliances and build relationships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmaechi is both a distinguished public servant and a consummate politician. Even his success as a minister overseeing the high-profile ministry of transportation, owes as much to his deep understanding of politics as to his impressive managerial capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a politically charged and complex nation like Nigeria, there is real value in having a politician at the helm. Someone who is able to navigate the murky waters of partisanship, who has the experience<br \/>\nto foresee challenges before they arise<br \/>\nand who simply knows how the game<br \/>\nis played.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group added that the minister has competitive advantages like track record of achievement, geopolitical consideration and broad and deep experience in governance to succeed Buhari in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, several politicians have declared their ambition for the nation\u2019s number one seat.<\/p>\n<p>However, it has been speculated that Amaechi may be Buhari\u2019s favoured candidate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A group of concerned Nigerians, the Secretariat has endorsed minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi for the 2023 presidency.
