{"id":17376,"date":"2021-04-04T15:56:34","date_gmt":"2021-04-04T14:56:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=17376"},"modified":"2021-04-04T15:56:49","modified_gmt":"2021-04-04T14:56:49","slug":"igp-told-to-investigate-odumakins-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/04\/igp-told-to-investigate-odumakins-death\/","title":{"rendered":"IGP told to investigate Odumakin\u2019s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Olusegun Bamgbose, National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, has said that the sudden death of Yinka Odumakin, the spokesman of Afenifere, is suspicious.<\/p>\n<p>Bamgbose said he won\u2019t want to believe that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/03\/breaking-afenifere-spokesman-yinka-odumakin-is-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Odumakin\u2019s death<\/a> was as a result of COVID-19 complications, adding that he wants the death investigated by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to DAILY POST on Sunday, the senior lawyer said that the news of the death came to him as a rude shock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is quite painful. He died at a time Nigeria needed him most. He was no doubt a social critic with a big difference,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Nigeria will miss the Yoruba leader, adding that Afenifere has indeed lost its best, \u201cthe shining light, the light bearer of the Civil Society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne seriously doubts if any other person can replace him. He was a formidable fighter against injustice, bad governance and impunity,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has indeed left an indelible mark on the sands of history. The opposition has lost a fearless fighter. They have lost a General.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne would however take solace in the fact that his life was eventful and exceptional. However I personally smell a rat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis sudden demise is suspicious. I won\u2019t want to believe that his death was as a result of COVID-19 complications. I want his death investigated by the Inspector General of Police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn my own part I\u2019ll conduct my personal investigation and I want to assure Nigerians whoever is responsible for his death will face the wrath of God before the end of May 2021.
