{"id":174855,"date":"2022-04-09T18:10:32","date_gmt":"2022-04-09T17:10:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=174855"},"modified":"2022-04-09T18:10:32","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T17:10:32","slug":"we-are-investigating-causes-of-grid-collapse-fg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/09\/we-are-investigating-causes-of-grid-collapse-fg\/","title":{"rendered":"We are investigating causes of grid collapse \u2013 FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government says it has begun a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the incessant grid collapse.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Nigerians suffered another blackout on Friday as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/08\/electricity-national-grid-collapses-again-third-in-less-than-a-month\/\">national electricity grid suffered a system collapse<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 the third incident in less than one month.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the issue, Isa Sanusi, media spokesperson of the ministry of power, said the government is working relentlessly to restore supply.<\/p>\n<p>Sanusi disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Sanusi said the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the operator of the national grid, is in the process of restoring supply.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the government has prioritised the implementation of reforms critical to revitalising and strengthening the power sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to notify the general public of the incidence of a system collapse which occurred at 1830 hrs on April 8th, 2022 resulting in power outages in many parts of the country,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile a detailed investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the recurring grid failure is currently ongoing by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and System Operator (the operator of the national grid), the process of restoring supply is ongoing with some sections of the national grid already energised and supply restored to consumers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to assure Nigerians that the Federal Government is working assiduously to deliver on the much-needed reforms and investments, including SCADA, that are critical to improving the capacity and reliability of the national grid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is in line with the Mr. President\u2019s directives on closing infrastructure deficits in critical sectors of the Nigerian economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On March 19, Abubakar Aliyu, minister of power had assured Nigerians that measures to avoid the recurrence of national grid collapse were being implemented.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government says it has begun a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the incessant grid collapse.
