{"id":177125,"date":"2022-04-13T20:03:58","date_gmt":"2022-04-13T19:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=177125"},"modified":"2022-04-13T20:43:44","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T19:43:44","slug":"fg-approves-n1-4bn-for-power-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/13\/fg-approves-n1-4bn-for-power-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"FG approves N1.4bn for power sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The sum of N1.4 billion has been approved by the Federal Executive Council for the supply of more equipment for the Transmission Company of Nigeria to boost electricity supply across the country.<\/p>\n<p>This was made known by the\u00a0Minister of Power, Mr Abubakar Aliyu when he briefed State House Correspondents on the outcome of the meeting of the council, presided by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI presented two memos from the ministry of power for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/14\/gencos-blame-weak-transmission-for-erratic-power-supply\/\">Transmission Company<\/a> of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first one was a variation of the sum of a contract for 132\/33 KV substation at Kafanchan, Kaduna State, with a KV line base extension at Jos substation, in Plateau State. This is in the sum of N132, 705, 861.42.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The minister said the second approval he got was for the supply of handling equipment and operational vehicles also for the Transmission Company of Nigeria at the cost of N1.3 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe second memo was for the supply of handling equipment, haulage and operational vehicles for the TCN at N1,338,159,080.88.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are heavy lifting equipment that the TCN requires for doing its work in the store and on the field while changing equipment and moving transformers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe council graciously approved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, announced that the council approved some fees for seeds production in the country.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the council approved N400,000 per variety for a private seed company and N100,000 per variety for research institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, also disclosed that the council approved an augmentation of N317.7 million for Pategi Water Supply project phase 11 in Kwara.<\/p>\n<p>He said the project was initially awarded in 2018 by the Buhari administration at the cost of N3.2 billion with a completion period of 74 months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The sum of N1.4 billion has been approved by the Federal Executive Council for the supply of more equipment for the Transmission Company of Nigeria to boost electricity supply across the country.
