{"id":177154,"date":"2022-04-13T21:13:42","date_gmt":"2022-04-13T20:13:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=177154"},"modified":"2022-04-13T21:13:42","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T20:13:42","slug":"fg-directs-nrc-to-hand-over-processing-of-train-passengers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/13\/fg-directs-nrc-to-hand-over-processing-of-train-passengers\/","title":{"rendered":"FG directs NRC to hand over processing of train passengers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has ordered that the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, hand over the processing of train passengers to Secure ID.<\/p>\n<p>Secure ID is the technology firm controlling the e-ticketing platform for the Abuja-Kaduna rail service.<\/p>\n<p>Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, stated that this decision would reduce crime, and security cases on the corridor and enable the firm to match faces with the names of passengers.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister said this in Abuja when the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) presented the Full Business Case Certificates (FBC) for Lagos- Ibadan and Itakpe-Warri e-ticketing service to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne thing I think I may disagree with the public on is the issue of tickets racketeering. I have spoken to the person in charge of Abuja-Kaduna to take over the identification process from NRC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause what the National Assembly told me was that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/05\/train-attack-nrc-vows-to-rescue-hostages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NRC<\/a> does not cross-check the ID of passengers on the tickets and they (Secure ID) had wanted to do it, but they have not gotten the approval from NRC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I have told NRC to allow them do it, so that we match faces with the names.
