{"id":177468,"date":"2022-04-14T15:18:58","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T14:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=177468"},"modified":"2022-04-14T15:18:58","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T14:18:58","slug":"2023-ebonyi-ssg-resigns-declares-for-senate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/14\/2023-ebonyi-ssg-resigns-declares-for-senate\/","title":{"rendered":"2023: Ebonyi SSG resigns, declares for senate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Secretary to Ebonyi State government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, on Thursday resigned from office and declared his intention to represent Ebonyi Central senatorial zone at the national assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The former SSG, Ugbala made this known while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, shortly after a closed-door meeting with the state chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro Emegha.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that Ugbala before his resignation had the interest to contest for governor but later changed his mind to go for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/12\/again-senate-passes-controversial-peace-corps-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">senate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI\u2019m here to consult with the State Working Committee of our party and seek their approval and support, to run for Senate, come 2022\/2023 for Ebonyi Central Senatorial District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dYou know a political party is a platform through which you can come into leadership. And before any step is taken, it\u2019s necessary to consult with the party leadership and seek their approval. That\u2019s why I\u2019m here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ugbala, who had served as Senior Special Assistant, SSA, as well as Commissioner under Governor David Umahi\u2019s administration, before his elevation to Secretary to State Government, said he would ensure effective and efficient representation if elected as a Senator, come 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m contesting to contribute my quota for efficient and effective representation and ensure accountability, and to join hands with other leaders that the State is enthroning, come 2023, to make sure we build and expand on what the present Governor has done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cI offer myself for this service for the interest of the masses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On his resignation, Mr Ugbala, said he had the full knowledge of the new Electoral Law and had taken all necessary steps to obey it, including tendering his resignation letter to the appropriate authority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know the Electoral Law very well and the Law is very very firm. You know when I was appointed, and for me to be here today, it means I have taken all the necessary steps and you know I have a boss, he is the only one that can show you the necessary documents, not myself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe office of the Secretary to State Government which I was occupying is known for confidentiality.
