{"id":177732,"date":"2022-04-14T20:51:40","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T19:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=177732"},"modified":"2022-04-14T20:51:40","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T19:51:40","slug":"aupctre-pickets-bank-in-ondo-for-withholding-n471m-of-anambra-workers-salaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/14\/aupctre-pickets-bank-in-ondo-for-withholding-n471m-of-anambra-workers-salaries\/","title":{"rendered":"AUPCTRE pickets bank in Ondo for withholding N471m of Anambra workers\u2019 salaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operations at a new generation bank\u2019s Alagbaka branch in Akure has been halted by unionists under the auspices of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), Ondo State Council.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that the alleged failure of the bank to release the salaries of Anambra workers in its custody, led to the picketing by the members of AUPCTRE.<\/p>\n<p>The protestors picketed the bank as early as 7:00 a.m. in solidarity with their counterparts in Anambra State, to show their discontent with the bank\u2019s treatment of the workers.<\/p>\n<p>According to the protesters, the bank refused to release N471 million held in its possession for the payment of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/26\/wike-threatens-to-stop-salaries-of-striking-judiciary-workers\/\">salaries<\/a> and emoluments to Anambra workers.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters who barricaded the bank\u2019s entrance chanted various solidarity songs and revealed that in 2019, a court case between AUPCTRE and the Anambra State Government was won over a debt of salaries and other allowances owed to the Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency (ANSEPA) and Anambra State Water Corporation Anambra, with the bank flagrantly disobeying the court order.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters, armed with placards bearing various messages, demanded that the money be released immediately.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the development, AUPCTRE\u2019s National Deputy President, Comrade Oyesanmi Ilesanmi, who also serves as the union\u2019s Ondo State Chairman, claimed the protest was in line with the union\u2019s national order.<\/p>\n<p>Ilesanmi revealed that a 21-day ultimatum was delivered to the bank, followed by a seven-day ultimatum that expired on Wednesday, but both were in vain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operations at a new generation bank\u2019s Alagbaka branch in Akure has been halted by unionists under the auspices of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), Ondo State Council.
