{"id":181384,"date":"2022-04-22T06:55:52","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T05:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=181384"},"modified":"2022-04-22T06:55:52","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T05:55:52","slug":"grandmother-arrested-over-allegiance-to-ipob-regains-freedom-after-one-year-detention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/22\/grandmother-arrested-over-allegiance-to-ipob-regains-freedom-after-one-year-detention\/","title":{"rendered":"Grandmother arrested over allegiance to IPOB regains freedom after one-year detention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maria Ezediaro, supporter of detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has regained her freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Ezediaro, a grandmother, was released on Thursday, April 21, 2022 one year after her alleged abduction by agents of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force hitherto led by the suspended DCP Abba Kyari in Imo State,<\/p>\n<p>She was said to have been consequently detained at the IRT\u2019s dangerous abattoir facility.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the Head of the legal team of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/13\/nnamdi-kanu-sue-nigerian-govt-for-refusing-to-allow-him-wear-igbo-attire-isi-agu-to-court\/\">Nnamdi Kanu<\/a><\/strong>, announced that she&#8217;s now been released.<\/p>\n<p>She said her release was sequel to an application for the enforcement of her fundamental human rights filed on her behalf before a Federal High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Ejiofor said \u201cshe was hurriedly charged to court on frivolous and smokescreen charge by the infamous IRT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThis step was clearly targeted at truncating the Fundamental Human Rights suit we filed to compel her release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNevertheless, the long arm of the law has finally caught up with those monsters in uniform as the Federal High Court proceeded to hear our suit on the merit and consequently, directed for her unconditional release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDamages were equally awarded against the suspended DCP Abba Kyari together with his disbanded outfit, for the gross violation of Mrs. Ezediaro\u2019s fundamental rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Federal High Court seized the frivolous charge brought against her and equally granted her bail on our application.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, Mrs. Ezedalor has finally regained her freedom and presently walks the street a free person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe assured Umuchineke, that we are vigorously pursuing the bail applications of every other person(s) arrested and detained in similar circumstances and they shall all regain their freedom in due course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy team and I shall stop at nothing to ensure that all Umuchineke arrested and still detained at various detention facilities of the Nigerian Security agencies are released.
