The Lagos State Government stated that it has only designated the dates of May 2nd and 3rd as public holidays to commemorate the 2022 International Workers’ Day and Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.<\/p>\n

The administration also instructed employees at the Centre of Excellence to disregard a previous circular that had designated three consecutive days as public holidays.<\/p>\n

In a circular to workers dated April 27, 2022, the state’s Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, authorized May 2-4 as public holidays.<\/p>\n

However, upon the declaration by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, that May 2-3 were approved<\/a>, the Lagos HoS made a U-Turn and approved the same, urging workers to disregard the first circular.<\/p>\n

According to the Punch, Muri-Okunola signed both circulars.<\/p>\n

In the second circular titled, \u2018Re: Year 2022 Workers\u2019 Day Celebration\/Id-El-Fitr Public Holidays\u2019, the Lagos HoS said, \u201cPublic servants in the state are therefore to disregard the resumption date stated in CIRCULAR NO 018 of 27th of April, 2022 and note that work resumes on Wednesday, 4th of May, 2022 at 08:00am prompt.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
