{"id":183979,"date":"2022-04-30T05:53:01","date_gmt":"2022-04-30T04:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=183979"},"modified":"2022-04-30T05:53:01","modified_gmt":"2022-04-30T04:53:01","slug":"lagos-ibadan-expressway-auto-crash-leaves-7-dead-5-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/30\/lagos-ibadan-expressway-auto-crash-leaves-7-dead-5-injured\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos-Ibadan Expressway auto crash leaves 7 dead, 5 injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than seven persons have lost their lives in another accident on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.<\/p>\n<p>The auto crash which saw five others injure happened at Ogunmakin section of the highway on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/27\/eid-el-fitr-frsc-deploys-978-officials-in-bauchi\/\">FRSC\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> Sector Commander in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta, adding that the mishap involved a Mazda bus and a truck.<\/p>\n<p>Umar said the Mazda bus has LSR 696 XS as its registration number, while the truck\u2019s registration number is T-4889 LA.<\/p>\n<p>He blamed the accident on excessive speeding and loss of control by the bus driver which made him ram into the moving truck ahead of him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA total 16 persons, 15 of them male adults, were involved in the accident. Five men were injured while six men and one woman died in the mishap,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Umar told journalists that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, Ogun, for medical treatment while the deceased were deposited at FOS morgue in Ipara, also in Ogun<\/p>\n<p>The sector commander described the crash as avoidable if the bus driver had not been speeding excessively on the slippery highway as it was raining at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>He condoled with the families of the crash victims and also enjoined them to contact the FRSC command in Ogunmakin area for details and reclaim the belongings of the victims recovered from the scene<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than seven persons have lost their lives in another accident on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
