{"id":184006,"date":"2022-04-30T08:54:56","date_gmt":"2022-04-30T07:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=184006"},"modified":"2022-04-30T09:02:10","modified_gmt":"2022-04-30T08:02:10","slug":"dele-momodu-im-not-in-presidential-race-to-step-down-for-anybody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/30\/dele-momodu-im-not-in-presidential-race-to-step-down-for-anybody\/","title":{"rendered":"Dele Momodu: I&#8217;m not in presidential race to step down for anybody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A presidential hopeful on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu has stated that he will remain in the race till the date of the presidential primary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The primary to select a candidate to represent the PDP in the 2023 presidential election is scheduled for May 28.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Speaking on Friday after appearing before the party\u2019s screening committee in Abuja,<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0the <\/span>publisher of Ovation Magazine said the exercise was successful, adding that members of the committee are among \u201cthe most experienced members\u201d of PDP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cI was very excited to see them. It was a very straightforward exercise. I\u2019m looking forward to robust engagement with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/29\/2023-i-intend-to-resolutely-defend-the-will-of-nigerians-buhari\/\">Nigerians<\/a> in the coming days and weeks,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cIt is going to be exciting. Anyone who feels Dele Momodu is here to waste time or to step down for somebody, tell them that Dele Momodu is a man of principle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cMy message to the delegates is that they should not sell their conscience; they should vote their conscience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cI don\u2019t have money but I have integrity, I have a reputation, I have a global brand. Our founding fathers in Nigeria, chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe \u2014 they all had journalism background.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Momodu also said Nigeria needs a president who can take decisions that will have a positive impact on citizens\u2019 lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cThe world can only be changed by intellectuals and not by money. Everywhere in the world now, people are electing superstars. You need somebody who has been interacting with Nigerians to be president and will be able to take charge from day one,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"caps\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cIt is going to be exciting.
