{"id":184158,"date":"2022-04-30T16:48:03","date_gmt":"2022-04-30T15:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=184158"},"modified":"2022-04-30T16:48:03","modified_gmt":"2022-04-30T15:48:03","slug":"nigerian-government-procures-three-new-fighter-jets-to-tackle-insecurity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/30\/nigerian-government-procures-three-new-fighter-jets-to-tackle-insecurity\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Government procures three new fighter jets to tackle insecurity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the recent procurement of J-F17 Thunder multi-role aircraft and Super Tucano attack aircraft,\u00a0 the delivery of three new types of fighter aircraft to tackle insecurity is being expected to arrive Nigeria soon, Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Magashi (rtd), has confirmed this.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister listed the three new types of fighter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/21\/breaking-several-feared-dead-as-military-aircraft-crashes-in-abuja\/\">aircraft<\/a> as the DA-42 surveillance aircraft, A109 Trekker helicopters and Beechcraft KA-360i aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Maj Gen Bashir Magashi (rtd) spoke in Kaduna State on Saturday as 49 new officers were commissioned and 1,549 recruits enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force.<br \/>\nRepresented by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, the minister charged the military to protect the lives and property of Nigerians in the face of the various security challenges bedevilling the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe military profession, which you have chosen, requires absolute discipline, loyalty and hard work, among other virtues. It is much more than just a job, especially at this crucial time in our nation\u2019s history, when we are battling the challenges of insecurity on several fronts.<br \/>\n\u201cAs such, you are expected to secure the lives and properties of the Nigerian people and ensure that they can live in peace and pursue their legitimate aspirations without fear. Such a noble service demands extraordinary courage, commitment, and patriotism, and Nigeria will continue to count on you and demand such qualities from you.<br \/>\n\u201cAccordingly, the Federal Government\u2019s recent procurement of new platforms such as the J-F17 Thunder multi-role aircraft and Super Tucano attack aircraft to enhance the capacity of the Nigerian Air Force to tackle current security challenges in the country is a testament to Mr President\u2019s quest for equipping the Nigerian Air Force.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Nigerian Air Force is also expecting the delivery of the DA-42 surveillance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/22\/customs-to-impound-unverified-private-jets-from-july-6\/\">jets<\/a>, A109 Trekker helicopters and Beechcraft KA-360i aircraft in the next few years, among so many other requirements.
