{"id":184603,"date":"2022-05-02T12:48:45","date_gmt":"2022-05-02T11:48:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=184603"},"modified":"2022-05-02T12:48:45","modified_gmt":"2022-05-02T11:48:45","slug":"army-accuses-ipob-esn-of-using-pictures-of-fake-soldiers-to-promote-disinformation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/02\/army-accuses-ipob-esn-of-using-pictures-of-fake-soldiers-to-promote-disinformation\/","title":{"rendered":"Army accuses IPOB\/ESN of using pictures of fake soldiers to promote disinformation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Army, has accused the The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of using pictures of fake soldiers and propaganda to malign the military in the South-East.<\/p>\n<p>The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu who disclosed this in statement said the military has uncovered a malicious disinformation and falsehood plot peddled by one Solomon Okafor of Radio Biafra London, making the rounds on the social media.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads; \u201cThe meme alleged complicity by troops in a fictitious case of the kidnapping of a family of 10 in Kaduna State, Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe also maliciously alleged that about 87 per cent of NA soldiers are kidnappers and bandits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the NA would have ignored this merchant of falsehood, considering his lack of credibility, it is however instructive to put the records in proper perspective for the interest of unsuspecting members of the public, whom such misrepresentation could mislead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt must therefore be clarified that the said report is a creation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/26\/nigerian-army-discovers-decomposing-bodies-of-kidnapped-people-in-deep-well-in-ipob-esn-camp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IPOB\/ESN<\/a> social media foot soldiers, with intent to malign the NA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe picture bandied around on the social media is a picture of fake soldiers (impostors) who were arrested in Lagos \u2013 Ondo States axis by troops of Operation Checkmate under 81 Division NA, sometime in April 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe operation was widely publicized in both the new and traditional media before handing over the suspects to the Nigeria Police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also crucial to emphasize that following troops\u2019 successful exploits in unravelling and unmasking IPOB elements who have been masquerading as unknown gunmen and wreaking carnage against Ndigbo in South-East Nigeria, IPOB\/ESN have severally attempted to use doctored graphic images, video footages and spurious narratives in online and social media campaigns to disparage the NA and bring her to disrepute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe author and his sponsors should note that no matter the campaign of calumny by IPOB and other fifth columnists, the NA will be undeterred and remains a cherished national institution that will continue to execute its constitutional mandate of defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria, towards building a united nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the public are therefore urged to disregard this mindless and irresponsible propaganda clearly emanating from IPOB, aimed at promoting insecurity in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Army, has accused the The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of using pictures of fake soldiers and propaganda to malign the military in the South-East.
