One Omoniyi Stephen, a royal family member, will die by hanging for the murder of the Traditional Ruler of Odo Oro Ekiti, Oba Gbadebo Olowoselu, in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.<\/p>\n
An Ekiti State High Court, sitting in Ado Ekiti, delivered the judgement on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Delivering the judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Kayode Ogundana, said the prosecuting counsel substantiated the allegations of murder against stephen.<\/p>\n
The prosecuting counsel was led by Adegboyega Morakinyo.<\/p>\n
Stephen had in August 2018 thrown the Odo-Oro-Ekiti community into apprehension and grief, following the murder of the monarch<\/p>\n
Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin was said to have been stabbed to death with a knife after a meeting of the Traditional Council, by Stephen, who was at that time suspected to be mentally unstable.<\/p>\n
However, after listening to Counsels and evidence before him, Justice Ogundana dispelled the notion that the convict was insane.<\/p>\n
Ogundana said the counsels’ evidence were irrefutable and they prove the case against Stephen beyond reasonable doubts.<\/p>\n
Stephen was said to be from the same royal family as the slain traditional ruler.<\/p>\n
He was thereafter sentenced to death by hanging for the death of the monarch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
