The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) responded to the viral video featuring its personnel on Monday.<\/p>\n

An officer was seen on video slapping an unarmed man, Samson Nwachukwu.<\/p>\n

The victim is an activist who works as a Special Assistant to Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as well as an Ombudsman for the Attorney General’s office.<\/p>\n

On Saturday about 5 p.m., an assault occurred on the Benin-Agbor expressway.<\/p>\n

The team from FOU Zone ‘C’ has subsequently<\/a> been withdrawn, according to Timi Bomodi, Customs Public Relations Officer.<\/p>\n

They are being investigated administratively at the NCS Zonal Headquarters Zone ‘C’ Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n

Bomodi said officers are trained to carry out their duties with dignity, and respect, and are expected to display decorum in their conduct at all times.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere they fail to carry out their brief as assigned, appropriate sanctions are applied to enforce discipline\u201d, he noted.<\/p>\n
