{"id":186460,"date":"2022-05-09T17:19:15","date_gmt":"2022-05-09T16:19:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=186460"},"modified":"2022-05-09T17:19:15","modified_gmt":"2022-05-09T16:19:15","slug":"bitcoin-price-drops-below-33000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/09\/bitcoin-price-drops-below-33000\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin price drops below $33,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The world&#8217;s largest crypto by market cap, Bitcoin on Monday fell below $33,000 for the first time in 10 months.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The volatile asset had last recorded its lowest price in July 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The digital currency in January 2022 fell as low as<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0$38,000 from an all-time high of $68,990 recorded in November 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to CoinMarketCap cap, the Bitcoin price dropped by 5 per cent to $32,832 at 15:00 GMT +1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The cryptocurrency continues to struggle back to its highest level since the beginning of this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/29\/adopting-bitcoin-as-legal-tender-wont-fix-africas-economic-problems-says-imf\/\">coins<\/a> such as Ethereum sold at $2,412, Dogecoin (DOGE) fell 6 per cent to $0.1176, while Shiba Inu (SHIB) dropped 11 per cent to $0.0000167.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Following the dip, the global cryptocurrency market cap fell to $1.58 trillion, with Bitcoin\u2019s $627 billion accounting for just under 40% of that sum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had placed\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a ban on cryptocurrency transactions<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in Nigerians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The apex bank claimed that they are largely used in terrorism financing and money laundering, considering the anonymity of virtual transactions.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The world&#8217;s largest crypto by market cap, Bitcoin on Monday fell below $33,000 for the first time in 10 months.
