{"id":186772,"date":"2022-05-10T19:27:18","date_gmt":"2022-05-10T18:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=186772"},"modified":"2022-05-10T20:00:32","modified_gmt":"2022-05-10T19:00:32","slug":"2023-presidency-why-apc-will-find-it-difficult-to-sell-jonathan-umahi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/10\/2023-presidency-why-apc-will-find-it-difficult-to-sell-jonathan-umahi\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 Presidency: Why APC will find it difficult to sell Jonathan \u2013 Umahi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi, has revealed the reason why the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will find it difficult to sell former president Goodluck Jonathan to Nigerians as its 2023 presidential candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with the press after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Umahi expressed concern on how the APC would reconcile its policies and promises with those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under which Jonathan was President.<\/p>\n<p>Umahi stated that Jonathan&#8217;s entrance into the race for the APC presidential ticket will be another wonder of the world.<\/p>\n<p>The governor, however, expressed doubt about the authenticity of the development because of series of denials regarding Jonathan\u2019s rumoured move to the APC.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/10\/despite-form-denial-jonathan-meets-adamu-prepares-to-run-on-apc-ticket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jonathan<\/a> is my father and God used him and the wife to make me a governor of the state and so, anybody who has done anything for me, I\u2019ve always remained very grateful to such person and I will continue to be very grateful to him, the wife for being available and my destiny helper, to achieve that feat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProbably if that miracle did not take place, then the miracles that happened in Ebonyi State, in terms of total evolution and transformation wouldn\u2019t have taken place. So, he\u2019s a man we can\u2019t forget, just like Sani Abacha, who created the state and Mr. President. Of course, we\u2019ve named the airport after him, we\u2019ve named the light tunnel after him, we\u2019ve named the Presidential Lodge after him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood intention that we don\u2019t forget people who have helped us, but on the question of joining, I may not say much about that because I\u2019ve seen a lot of write ups, denials, but if he decides to join and to run, it will, for me, become one of the wonders in this century.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason is that if you go and see the campaign programs of APC and you now ask President Jonathan to come and run, I don\u2019t know what will be our campaign promises and what will be the stories we\u2019ll be telling Nigerians. I believe strongly that he was not aware of the forms and I want to believe that people that are mischievous would have bought the forms to embarrass him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut from what I read, he has quickly distanced himself from that.
