{"id":187183,"date":"2022-05-12T12:33:46","date_gmt":"2022-05-12T11:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=187183"},"modified":"2022-05-12T12:33:46","modified_gmt":"2022-05-12T11:33:46","slug":"why-fifa-ordered-nff-to-pay-rohr-n157m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/12\/why-fifa-ordered-nff-to-pay-rohr-n157m\/","title":{"rendered":"Why FIFA ordered NFF to pay Rohr N157m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Director of Communication, Nigeria Football Federation, Ademola Olajire, has explained why world body FIFA ordered the NFF to pay former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, compensation after both parties parted ways last December.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/09\/fifa-orders-nff-to-pay-rohrs-outstanding-salaries-over-breach-of-contract\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> FIFA<\/a> on Monday ordered the NFF to pay the former Eagles coach $377,879.46 (N157m) in compensation after he was shown the exit door just a month before the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January.<\/p>\n<p>Despite moves by the NFF to pay his salary until the end of his contract, which should have expired in December 2022, Rohr, the Eagles\u2019 longest-serving coach, took the case to FIFA, demanding an additional \u00a31m for breach of contract \u201cwithout just cause\u201d but FIFA instead approved $377,879.46.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, Olajire on a WhatsApp platform, \u2018Family United By Sports\u2019 revealed that the federation had already agreed to pay the coach a major chunk of the cash before FIFA\u2019s intervention, adding that part of the money would also be used to pay Rohr\u2019s assistants\u2019 bonuses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe $300,000 was his six months\u2019 pay that the NFF had earlier agreed to pay him, even before he went to FIFA.
