{"id":187260,"date":"2022-05-12T16:11:46","date_gmt":"2022-05-12T15:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=187260"},"modified":"2022-05-12T16:11:46","modified_gmt":"2022-05-12T15:11:46","slug":"benue-24-year-old-woman-jailed-for-trafficking-young-girls-to-mali-for-prostitution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/12\/benue-24-year-old-woman-jailed-for-trafficking-young-girls-to-mali-for-prostitution\/","title":{"rendered":"Benue: 24-year-old woman jailed for trafficking young girls to Mali for prostitution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>24-year-old woman, Mercy Sese, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison with the option of N4.5m fine for trafficking young girls to Mali for prostitution.<\/p>\n<p>Justice AbduDogo of the Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, sentenced the accused on Wednesday, May 11, after she pleaded guilty to a 7 count charge preferred against her for the offence of organizing foreign trips for young girls to Mali for sexual exploitation.<\/p>\n<p>The offence contrary is to sections 18, 27 and 29 of the Trafficking in persons (Prohibition) enforcement and administration act 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Makurdi Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/07\/naptip-receives-88-victims-of-human-trafficking-from-ivorian-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NAPTIP<\/a>, arrested Sese at a popular motor park in Makurdi earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Makurdi Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mr. Gloria Bai, said huge sum of money including foreign currencies were recovered from Sese.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-187264 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/05\/kunlenet07\/2022\/05\/12\/Mercy-Sese-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/05\/kunlenet07\/2022\/05\/12\/Mercy-Sese-2.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/05\/kunlenet07\/2022\/05\/12\/Mercy-Sese-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/05\/kunlenet07\/2022\/05\/12\/Mercy-Sese-2-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/05\/kunlenet07\/2022\/05\/12\/Mercy-Sese-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/05\/kunlenet07\/2022\/05\/12\/Mercy-Sese-2-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Command in the early hours of Friday, January 7, 2022, received a call from a concerned citizen from Duku Motor Part at Wurukum Makurdi, who alerted the command of a suspected case of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/12\/human-trafficker-nabbed-while-trying-to-secure-passport-for-victim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">human trafficking<\/a> involving seven ladies of which one is the suspected trafficker,&#8221; she stated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Officers of the command arrived at Duku Motor Park some few minutes after receiving the call and met the six ladies and the suspected who said they were all travelling to Lagos<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The victims were between the ages 16 &#8211; 24 years by facial analysis.
