{"id":187503,"date":"2022-05-13T12:18:55","date_gmt":"2022-05-13T11:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=187503"},"modified":"2022-05-13T12:18:55","modified_gmt":"2022-05-13T11:18:55","slug":"american-defrauds-two-nigerians-of-368000-under-pretext-of-obtaining-green-cards-fbi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/13\/american-defrauds-two-nigerians-of-368000-under-pretext-of-obtaining-green-cards-fbi\/","title":{"rendered":"American defrauds two Nigerians of $368,000 under pretext of obtaining Green Cards &#8211; FBI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) told an IKEA Special Offences Court how an American, Marco Ramirez duped two Nigerians of $368,698 under the pretext of obtaining Green Cards for them.<\/p>\n<p>FBI officer, Ayotunde Solademi, confirmed on Thursday before the court that Ramirez defrauded the Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged Ramirez on an amended nine counts bordering on obtaining money under false pretences.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant is facing trial alongside his companies: USA NOW LLC, Eagle Ford Instalodge Group LP and USA Now Energy Capital Group LP.<\/p>\n<p>Solademi said that the Office of the Legal Attache in the U.S. Consulate, sometime in 2016, received a letter from EFCC requesting that the FBI should assist it to find out about the EB-5 Investor Immigrant Programme.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe request was also to know if USA Now LLC has the right to issue out the EB-5 Investor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/25\/us-president-biden-revokes-trumps-immigrant-visa-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Immigrant visa<\/a> to Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/14\/supreme-court-grants-extradition-of-nigerian-wanted-in-us-by-fbi-over-alleged-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> FBI<\/a> investigated the matter relating to questions that were asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe responded to the EFCC based on our search and people interviewed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main crux of our finding is that Nigeria is not a participant of the EB-5 Investor Immigrant Programme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) told an IKEA Special Offences Court how an American, Marco Ramirez duped two Nigerians of $368,698 under the pretext of obtaining Green Cards for them.
