{"id":188548,"date":"2022-05-17T17:06:52","date_gmt":"2022-05-17T16:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=188548"},"modified":"2022-05-17T17:06:52","modified_gmt":"2022-05-17T16:06:52","slug":"efcc-insists-lagos-businessman-diverted-n164m-to-company-account-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/17\/efcc-insists-lagos-businessman-diverted-n164m-to-company-account-others\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC insists Lagos businessman diverted N164m to company account, others"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has insisted that Fidelis Umukoro, a Lagos businessman, misappropriated monies from A&amp;P Foods Limited.<\/p>\n<p>Umukoro is on trial before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, for alleged N164 million fraud.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant is charged with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/04\/kidnappers-abduct-businessman-kill-two-vigilantes-in-plateau\/\">six counts of conspiracy<\/a> and theft and has pled not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>T. J. Banjo, lawyer for the EFCC, informed the court that he committed the offence when he was the authorized signatory to the company account.<\/p>\n<p>Banjo said under cross-examination that the cash were moved to Raremax Global Investments Limited and others.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant was a former Managing Director at Raremax, a firm he had an interest.<\/p>\n<p>After the cross-examination, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/30\/i-have-document-fulani-want-to-takeover-nigeria-gov-ortom-insists\/\">defence<\/a> counsel, P. O. Ogunnubi, announced he was closing his case.<\/p>\n<p>Umukoro was arraigned on February 11, 2020, alongside Raremax Global Investments Limited.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Dada earlier dismissed the no-case submission as lacking in merit.<\/p>\n<p>The judge adjourned the matter to July 13, 2022, for the \u201cadoption of final written addresses\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has insisted that Fidelis Umukoro, a Lagos businessman, misappropriated monies from A&amp;P Foods Limited.
