{"id":188958,"date":"2022-05-19T05:45:22","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T04:45:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=188958"},"modified":"2022-05-19T05:45:22","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T04:45:22","slug":"embattled-zamfara-chairman-to-pdp-suspension-a-joke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/19\/embattled-zamfara-chairman-to-pdp-suspension-a-joke\/","title":{"rendered":"Embattled Zamfara chairman to PDP: Suspension a joke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Colonel Bala Mande (retd.), chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara State has been suspended.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the state\u2019s PDP Publicity Secretary, Abba Bello<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, Mande was suspended for alleged anti-party activities.<\/p>\n<p>The statement further explained that the suspended <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/18\/2023-election-arise-tv-anchor-reuben-abati-and-apga-chairman-victor-oye-clash-on-national-tv-video\/\">chairman<\/a> had been conducting the affairs of the party without the involvement of the State Working Committee and the leader of the party.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part, \u201cThis is to inform the general public and ardent members of our great party that the Executive Chairman of our party, Colonel Bala Mande (retd.), has been suspended for anti-party activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis becomes necessary owing to the fact that the state chairman has been conducting the affairs of the party without the involvement of the State Working Committee, and the leader of the party which is a flagrant violation of the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspension has become necessary to forestall the abuse of power and the derailment of the rules governing the running of the party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspension is for a period of one month to allow the Working Committee to constitute a panel of inquiry into the allegation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn view of the foregoing, the Vice Chairman, Kaura Namoda zone, Ali Namoda, will oversee the activities of the party for the period of his suspension.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But reacting to his suspension while speaking to newsmen, Mande described it as a joke.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI am still the PDP chairman in Zamfara State and I am currently in Kebbi State for an assignment given to me by the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know some people who are behind this drama and I will brief you further when I return from Kebbi State.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colonel Bala Mande (retd.), chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara State has been suspended.
