{"id":188982,"date":"2022-05-19T05:59:14","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T04:59:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=188982"},"modified":"2022-05-19T05:59:14","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T04:59:14","slug":"lagos-six-year-old-girl-narrates-how-her-mums-boyfriend-defiled-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/19\/lagos-six-year-old-girl-narrates-how-her-mums-boyfriend-defiled-her\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos: Six-year-old girl narrates how her mum\u2019s boyfriend defiled her"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A six-year-old girl has narrated how she was allegedly defiled by her mother&#8217;s boyfriend, Sangosanya Boluwatife, in Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>Boluwatife, who is an herbal doctor is standing trial before Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court.<\/p>\n<p>He was arraigned before the court in September 2020 for defilement, which contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law, C.17 Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The charge read, \u201cSangosanya Boluwatife, on or about June 6, 2020, at Oreta, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos, in the Ikeja judicial division, defiled one (name withheld) aged six, by having unlawful sexual intercourse with her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution presented two witnesses, who testified against Boluwatife.<\/p>\n<p>During the Monday sitting, the prosecuting counsel, A.R Abolade, led the victim through her account of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>She said, \u201cI stay with my grandma, but my mummy usually takes me to stay with the defendant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn a particular day when we were alone in the defendant\u2019s apartment, there was no electric power and the defendant asked me to pull off my clothes and pants. He said that I would like what he was about to do to me and later, I couldn\u2019t hear what he was saying as he was talking very low.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe put his hand in my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/11\/ekiti-man-allegedly-inserts-iron-into-ladys-private-parts-after-reportedly-raping-her\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">private parts<\/a> and after a while, he asked me to go and have my bath. I didn\u2019t tell my mummy when she came to pick me up afterwards, but I told my grandma and she informed my mum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defence counsel, O.A. Lawal, while cross-examining the child, said, \u201cHas anyone ever touched your private parts before and was it painful?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The victim answered in the negative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means you enjoyed it,\u201d Lawal added.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Soladoye objected to the question and urged the counsel to be sensitive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you like what the defendant did or shout while he did it to you?\u201d he queried.<\/p>\n<p>The victim again replied in the negative.<\/p>\n<p>The judge adjourned further hearing till June 4, 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A six-year-old girl has narrated how she was allegedly defiled by her mother&#8217;s boyfriend, Sangosanya Boluwatife, in Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
