{"id":189077,"date":"2022-05-19T12:49:47","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T11:49:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=189077"},"modified":"2022-05-19T13:18:08","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T12:18:08","slug":"tension-in-ojo-as-okada-riders-resist-attempts-by-police-officers-to-enforce-ban-on-motorcycles-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/19\/tension-in-ojo-as-okada-riders-resist-attempts-by-police-officers-to-enforce-ban-on-motorcycles-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"Tension in Ojo as okada riders resist attempts by police officers to enforce ban on motorcycles in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pandemonium has taken over some areas in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos as okada riders have refused to obey the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/19\/most-commercial-motorcyclists-in-lagos-are-criminals-with-pistols-police-commissioner-backs-okada-ban\/\">ban on commercial motorcycles in Lagos.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>WithinNigeria earlier reported that the Lagos State Governor banned commercial motorcycles in some local governments in the state following the lynching and burning of a sound engineer known as David Imoh.<\/p>\n<p>Some commercial motorcycles plying the Mile 2 &#8211; Badagry road were impounded today, May 19, by police officers from Onireke Police Station and the angry motorcyclists revolted.<\/p>\n<p>They stormed the police station where some of the seized bikes were kept. They tried to overrun the station and free motorcyclists arrested by police.<\/p>\n<p>Gunshots were heard ringing out in the area as police officers tried to keep them away.
