{"id":189529,"date":"2022-05-21T04:35:09","date_gmt":"2022-05-21T03:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=189529"},"modified":"2022-05-21T04:35:09","modified_gmt":"2022-05-21T03:35:09","slug":"man-remanded-for-stabbing-friend-to-death-over-woman-in-ondo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/21\/man-remanded-for-stabbing-friend-to-death-over-woman-in-ondo\/","title":{"rendered":"Man remanded for stabbing friend to death over woman in Ondo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A farm labourer, Money Danlandi, has been remanded for allegedly stabbing his friend, Sunday Babaji, to death during a disagreement over a woman in Ondo State.<\/p>\n<p>Danlandi was alleged to have committed the offence at Badokun Camp via Ode-Aye in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state and was arraigned before the court on a one-count charge of murder.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Inspector Nelson Akintimehin, told the court that Danlandi committed the offence on May 9, 2022, at about 9pm.<\/p>\n<p>Danladi reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/13\/nigerian-businessman-stabbed-to-death-in-vietnam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stabbed<\/a> 25-year-old Sunday with a knife in his chest, leading to his death.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 2, Laws of Ondo State, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Danlandi, who appeared before the court without a counsel, pleaded not guilty to the offence but his plea was not taken by the court.<\/p>\n<p>Akintimehin prayed the court to remand the defendant at the correctional centre, pending the issuance of advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions in the state.<\/p>\n<p>In his ruling, the magistrate, Mr Musa Al-Yunus, remanded the defendant at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Olokuta, Akure, pending the outcome of advice from the DPP, and, thereafter adjourned the case to August 25 for mention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A farm labourer, Money Danlandi, has been remanded for allegedly stabbing his friend, Sunday Babaji, to death during a disagreement over a woman in Ondo State.
