The governorship ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kwara state has been won by Alhaji Hakeem Lawal, son of former Governor of state, late Alhaji Mohammed Lawal.<\/p>\n
Lawal was declared as the winner of the primary election by Mr Olatunji George, the Chairman of the electoral committee of the party.<\/p>\n
He successfully polled a total of 607 votes to beat his opponent, Prof. Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem, who got 177 votes.<\/p>\n
NAN also reports that accreditation of delegates didn\u2019t start until around 2 pm, while voting started by 5:20 pm.<\/p>\n
The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the secretariat of the party.<\/p>\n
George, however, said that nine votes were voided, adding that 792 delegates were accredited from the 16 local government areas of Kwara.<\/p>\n
