{"id":192430,"date":"2022-06-01T05:56:16","date_gmt":"2022-06-01T04:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=192430"},"modified":"2022-06-01T05:56:16","modified_gmt":"2022-06-01T04:56:16","slug":"sleepy-driver-kills-conductor-injure-four-others-in-anambra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/01\/sleepy-driver-kills-conductor-injure-four-others-in-anambra\/","title":{"rendered":"Sleepy driver kills conductor, injure four others in Anambra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A sleeping driver has killed his conductor and injured gour others in an accident that occurred on Ihiala-Owerri Road, Anambra, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in Anambra, Adeoye Irelewuyi, who confirmed the incident said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/27\/three-company-staff-killed-many-injured-in-kogi-accident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accident<\/a> which occurred at about 5am was caused by fatigue and loss of control by the driver, NAN reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe crash involved an unidentified driver of a white luxury bus with registration number NNE423XB and another vehicle which we were not able to get the details.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to an eyewitness, who was a passenger in the bus, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/20\/truck-driver-runs-over-okada-rider-injures-two-in-osun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">driver<\/a> was tired and slept off while driving. He lost control of the vehicle and rammed into another vehicle in his front and crashed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c22 persons including 17 male adults and five female adults were involved in the crash. Four male adults were injured while one male adult, who was the conductor of the bus was confirmed dead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe injured victims were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Ihiala, while the deceased was deposited at the hospital\u2019s mortuary by the FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Unit Command, \u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While condoling with the family of the deceased, Irelewuyi urged drivers to ensure observing rules and regulations guiding the use of the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrivers need to take a minimum of 15 minutes after every four hours of driving to relax and energise themselves, it prevents fatigue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A sleeping driver has killed his conductor and injured gour others in an accident that occurred on Ihiala-Owerri Road, Anambra, on Tuesday.
