Days after Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, dropped him as his running mate, deputy, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan has has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n

WithinNigeria earlier reported that Governor Seyi Makinde dropped Olaniyan and picked Bayo Lawal<\/a>, a former attorney-general in the state as his new running mate ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the state.<\/p>\n

Following the development,\u00a0 Olaniyan during a chat with reporters, announced his defection from the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n

He made the announcement in his private office, Ojoo, Ibadan.<\/p>\n

This is coming after it was reported that the governor and his deputy have been at loggerheads for more than a year, with leaders in the deputy\u2019s camp accusing Makinde of breaching an agreement made before the last election that brought them in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
