met with the aspirants at the presidential villa, Abuja<\/a>, on Saturday. <\/p>\nAt the meeting, he asked them to \u201ccome up with a formidable\u201d consensus candidate before the party holds its primary election.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the meeting, the Kogi governor, who is also a presidential hopeful, said all the aspirants agreed to support President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s anointed candidate.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhoever Mr President will come up with, I\u2019m in 100 percent in support of that. It is not only me, in the dinner, we had yesterday with Mr President, almost everybody, in fact, 100 percent of us, who are aspiring, have agreed that whoever Mr President will choose among us we are going to support him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Asked if Bola Tinubu, former Lagos governor, was also in agreement, Bello said he was present and did not object.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was seated in the meeting and he did not object to it, so If someone speaks on your behalf and you did not have anything in contrary and you keep quiet then it is binding on you,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Bello said the position of the northern APC governors on zoning the presidency to the south is not binding on him.<\/p>\n
The Kogi governor described the decision as \u201cself-opinion\u201d.<\/p>\n
The northern governors had on Saturday expressed support for power shift to the south.<\/p>\n
Bello said the development is a \u201crecipe\u201d to further divide the country along ethnic and regional lines.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing by that statement, if assuming, without conceding, that such statement came from some of my colleagues, it is just self-opinion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not binding on Nigerians, it is not binding on me, it is not binding on the party because PGF north is not an organ of the party. It is not binding on northerners and Nigerians, generally.<\/p>\n
