{"id":195134,"date":"2022-06-10T15:05:59","date_gmt":"2022-06-10T14:05:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=195134"},"modified":"2022-06-10T15:05:59","modified_gmt":"2022-06-10T14:05:59","slug":"kaduna-explains-why-structure-under-construction-at-state-university-was-removed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/10\/kaduna-explains-why-structure-under-construction-at-state-university-was-removed\/","title":{"rendered":"Kaduna explains why structure under construction at state university was removed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The director-general of the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA), Ismail Dikko has stated that a structure which was recently removed within the premises of the Kaduna State University (KASU) violated extant laws.<\/p>\n<p>The structure, according to residents, was a chapel under construction.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the development in a statement issued on Thursday, Dikko said the state executive council had earlier given a directive that all public buildings and institutions must submit relevant documents before erecting new structures within their premises.<\/p>\n<p>He listed the documents to include the master plan of the institution or public building, and an application seeking permission that a new structure will be built.<\/p>\n<p>According to the director-general, KASU partially complied with the directive by submitting its master plan, but without an application seeking permission for further development.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019While awaiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/02\/public-fund-diversion-former-civil-servant-to-forfeit-university-businesses-to-fg\/\">university<\/a> to fully comply with the SEC directive on erecting new buildings within the premises of institutions and public buildings, the Development Control team of KASUPDA noticed that excavation work was still going on at the site,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dikko added that he went to the construction site on June 3, but was unable to see the site engineer and only met labourers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of courtesy to KASU, I went back on Sunday, the 5th of June 2022, and this time I met the engineer. I told him that they are in contravention of the law and I asked them to stop further work on the project until they get a permit,\u201d the KASUPDA DG said.<\/p>\n<p>Dikko, however, said by Monday, work continued on the site, which is why \u201cKASUPDA removed the excavation that have been started for foundation development which hasn\u2019t been completed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know whether the proposed structure would have been a church or just a building.
