{"id":195794,"date":"2022-06-13T13:27:32","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T12:27:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=195794"},"modified":"2022-06-13T13:27:32","modified_gmt":"2022-06-13T12:27:32","slug":"bitcoin-price-drops-below-25000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/13\/bitcoin-price-drops-below-25000\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin price drops below $25,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The world&#8217;s largest crypto by market cap, Bitcoin has dropped 12 percent to $24,138.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to CoinMarketCap, the price of bitcoin stood at $24,063 on Monday at 11:00 GMT+1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On June 6, bitcoin reached $31,371, the highest in the past month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Other coins have fallen lower than expected \u2014 Ethereum (ETH) fell 15 per cent to $1,238, Shiba Inu (SHIB) dropped 12 per cent to $0.000007668, Dogecoin (DOGE) sold at $0.05561, and Solana (SOL) sold at $27.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The development also affected the cryptocurrency as the market cap dropped from $1.27 trillion to $975.71 billion in one month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Although the crypto market is said to have been affected by the ongoing war in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/04\/1-5bn-people-need-food-fertiliser-un-raises-concern-as-ukraine-war-enters-100th-day\/\">Ukraine<\/a>, Nayib Bukele, president of El Salvador, had called for a meeting with 44 countries to discuss how<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0digital currencies can aid financial inclusion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">El Salvador, a country in South America, was the first to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Despite the move, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had warned and banned cryptocurrency transactions in the country.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0It also created the country\u2019s own digital currency, eNaira.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The world&#8217;s largest crypto by market cap, Bitcoin has dropped 12 percent to $24,138.
