At least nine persons have died in an accident while traveling on the Gombe highway, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has said. <\/p>\n
Eleven people also sustained various degrees of injuries during the mishap. <\/p>\n
The Sector Commander, Felix Theman, made this known in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that the accident occurred at the Bomala Junction on the Gombe Southern bye-pass at about 8pm, as a result of brake failure from a trailer conveying gallons of vegetable oil.<\/p>\n
According to him, 11 passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and nine other passengers lost their lives in the accident involving 20 passengers.<\/p>\n
The sector Commander noted that those injured were taken to Gombe Specialists\u2019 Hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe (FTHG), for treatment.<\/p>\n
He advised drivers against over-speeding, especially in overcrowded areas, adding that the speed limit within the metropolis must not exceed 40 kilometre per hour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
