{"id":1986,"date":"2021-02-28T07:18:36","date_gmt":"2021-02-28T06:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=1986"},"modified":"2021-02-28T07:18:36","modified_gmt":"2021-02-28T06:18:36","slug":"nigeria-to-receive-covid-19-vaccines-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/28\/nigeria-to-receive-covid-19-vaccines-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria to receive COVID-19 vaccines Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian government has said that the expected four million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines will arrive the country on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, made this known in a video message late Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can assure you that the vaccines are coming and they are coming very quickly barring any change in the delivery plan that has been released to us by UNICEF,\u201d Mr Mustapha said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that our vaccines should depart India on the 1st of March, 2021 at 10:30pm and arrive Abuja on 2nd of March by 11:10 am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria is expecting 16 million doses of the Astrazeneca <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/28\/nigeria-records-341-new-cases-of-covid-19-total-now-155714\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-19<\/a> vaccines through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Assess Facility (COVAX), a World Health Organisation-backed programme set-up to divide about two billion doses of vaccines across 92 low-and middle-income countries.<\/p>\n<p>The facility promised access to vaccines for up to 20 per cent of participating countries\u2019 population with an initial supply beginning in the first quarter of the year to immunise three per cent of their populations.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian government had earlier announced that the first four million doses of the vaccines will arrive the country by the end of February.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s health minister, Osagie Ehanire, on Wednesday admitted that the country may have to wait till March to receive its first doses of the vaccines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian government has said that the expected four million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines will arrive the country on Tuesday morning.
