{"id":199255,"date":"2022-06-27T07:24:28","date_gmt":"2022-06-27T06:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=199255"},"modified":"2022-06-27T09:17:12","modified_gmt":"2022-06-27T08:17:12","slug":"why-kidnapping-other-crimes-now-pervasive-sanwo-olu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/27\/why-kidnapping-other-crimes-now-pervasive-sanwo-olu\/","title":{"rendered":"Why kidnapping, other crimes now pervasive \u2013 Sanwo-Olu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has attributed the rise in crime rate, kidnapping, cultism and other social vices in the country to bad parenting.<\/p>\n<p>The minister of inister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, also shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/20\/sanwo-olu-new-falomo-towers-will-catalyse-lagos-economic-renaissance\/\">Sanwo-Olu&#8217;s<\/a> sentiment. <\/p>\n<p>The duo noted that the societal anomalies can be stamped out with effective parenting. <\/p>\n<p>They spoke in Lagos during the 10th Triennial National Conference of Ansaru-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria with the theme, \u2018Parenting and psychosocial effects of immorality, insecurity, and economic challenges to nationhood\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the conference, Sanwo-Olu said the failure of the family system as the first agent of socialisation was part of the reasons for the challenges and that it was time for everyone to work towards ensuring that the family returns to its role of nurturing the children.<\/p>\n<p>The governor, who was represented by the commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, lamented that parents no longer stayed at home to care for their children as expected of them, thereby leaving the children to make decisions that could affect their lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Sirika, who delivered the lecture at the event, said parents must be firm while inculcating societal morals in their children in order to have a better society that would be devoid of crimes.<\/p>\n<p>The minister, who was represented by the National Missioner of Ansaru-Ud-Deen, AbdulRahaman Ahmad, said those terrorising the nation were all products of poor parenting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has attributed the rise in crime rate, kidnapping, cultism and other social vices in the country to bad parenting.
