The sudden disappearance and passing of Amb. Ejeviome Otobo have prompted a thorough investigation, according to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).<\/p>\n

Otobo was reported missing for more than a week before being found dead in New York.<\/p>\n

The request for an investigation was made in a statement released on Tuesday by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the commission’s chairman and CEO.<\/p>\n

According to her, the death of the 70-year-old diplomat in the U.S. is very sad and painful.<\/p>\n

She expressed her sympathy to the late Otobo’s family and friends and prayed to God to give him eternal life and his family the strength to endure their loss.<\/p>\n

Dabiri-Erewa added that an independent investigation<\/a> into the circumstances surrounding the sudden disappearance of the diplomat and his eventual death in the U.S, has begun.<\/p>\n

Between December 2006 and October 2013, Otobo held the positions of Director and Deputy Head of the Peace-building Support Office at the UN\u2019s New York headquarters.<\/p>\n

From February to August 2009, Otobo acted as the assistant secretary-general at the UN.<\/p>\n

At the Global Governance Institute in Brussels, Belgium, he held the position of non-resident senior fellow in Peacebuilding and Global Economic Policy up until his death.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
