{"id":200429,"date":"2022-07-01T06:31:32","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T05:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=200429"},"modified":"2022-07-01T06:31:32","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T05:31:32","slug":"ncdmb-duport-modular-refinery-to-commence-operation-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/01\/ncdmb-duport-modular-refinery-to-commence-operation-in-july\/","title":{"rendered":"NCDMB: Duport modular refinery to commence operation in July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has stated that the Duport modular refinery will commence commercial operation in July 2022.<\/p>\n<p>This was stated by Simbi Wabote, executive secretary, NCDMB during a facility tour of the company in Egbokor, Orhionmwon LGA in Edo state.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ILfuVd\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hgKElc\">Modular refineries are crude oil processing facilities with capacities of up to 30,000 barrel per day, and are being built as part of plans to curb oil theft.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>They are also one of Nigeria\u2019s strategies for salvaging its ailing oil sector and improving production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan is that on July 18, DPR will come and do the final check in terms of giving us approval to introduce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/27\/nuprc-we-will-issue-marginal-oil-field-licences-to-winners-tuesday\/\">hydrocarbon<\/a> into the refinery,\u201d Wabote said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, between now and the end of July, this refinery in addition to the one we have in Ibigwe will become operational.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Akintoye Akindele, chief executive officer (CEO) of Duport Midstream Company Limited (DMCL), disclosed that the company has four separate assets including a refinery, gas processing facility, compressed natural gas facility, power plant, and data centre.<\/p>\n<p>He said that within the next 12 months to 18 months, there would be a modular LNG facility as well.<\/p>\n<p>Akindele said production would begin after the final assessment of the facility is done by the regulatory agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the moment, we can process 60 million scf of gas daily. This refinery is a 10,000 barrel per day refinery, starting with 2,500 barrel per day,\u201d Akindele said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe power plant capacity is over 50 megawatts and we are starting with five megawatts. We have a 32 racks data center that can go up to 100 racks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we have not done is to introduce hydrocarbons into it. We are fully done, fully installed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the way it works is, you must get the regulator who will come to do the final work-through before we start full commercial production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect that to be completed by July 28, and then full commercial production will start.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is now no longer in progress or under construction, it is done.
