{"id":200890,"date":"2022-07-03T07:36:15","date_gmt":"2022-07-03T06:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=200890"},"modified":"2022-07-03T07:38:04","modified_gmt":"2022-07-03T06:38:04","slug":"kogi-road-accident-leaves-two-dead-seventeen-gravely-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/03\/kogi-road-accident-leaves-two-dead-seventeen-gravely-injured\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi road accident leaves two dead, seventeen gravely injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disclosed that no fewer than 17 passengers escaped death in Kogi road accident. <\/p>\n<p>Stephen Dawulung, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/29\/pdp-chairman-suspended-in-kogi\/\">Kogi<\/a> sector commander of the corps, made the disclosure to journalists on Saturday in Lokoja.<\/p>\n<p>Dawulung said the passengers escaped death by a whiskers when a bus rammed into a parked articulated vehicle on Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Dawulung said two persons died while one out of the 17 persons was seriously injured and rushed to Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja, for medical attention while the bodies were also deposited in the mortuary.<\/p>\n<p>The sector commander said the accident occurred at Apamaru village, before Gada Biu on the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cause of the accident was high speed and poor visibility since it was already night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is part of the reason we keep preaching to motorists to avoid night journeys, not to endanger their lives and those of their passengers at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat incident would have been avoided if the driver had not embarked on that journey knowing that his bus had a poor lighting system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we give God the glory that 17 out of the 19 persons involved in the accident survived it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dawulung said drivers must adhere to stipulated speed limits and observe a minimum of 30 minutes rest after every four hours drive to avoid fatigue and sleep while driving.<\/p>\n<p>He said that passengers should also understand that a night journey could expose them to higher risks of being involved in a crash and should try to avoid it.<\/p>\n<p>(NAN)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disclosed that no fewer than 17 passengers escaped death in Kogi road accident.
