{"id":201846,"date":"2022-07-07T15:07:17","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T14:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=201846"},"modified":"2022-07-07T15:07:17","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T14:07:17","slug":"faan-to-close-lagos-airport-domestic-runways-for-90-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/07\/faan-to-close-lagos-airport-domestic-runways-for-90-days\/","title":{"rendered":"FAAN to close Lagos airport domestic runways for 90 days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has disclosed that it will close domestic runways 18L and 36R at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) in Lagos to install an airfield ground lighting system.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed on Wednesday via a statement released by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/01\/faan-begins-replacement-repair-of-old-equipment-at-airports\/\">FAAN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the agency,<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0the installations would commence July 8 and are expected to be completed in 90 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It assured that normal flight operations would not be affected by the installations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cAs part of efforts aimed at improving the safety and efficiency of flight operations at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN),\u201d it said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cFAAN has concluded arrangements to complete the installation of CAT III Airfield Ground Lighting system on Runway 18L\/36R.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe project, which will commence effectively on Friday, July 8, 2022, is expected to last for 90 days. Consequently, Runway 18L\/36R will be closed to flight operations during this time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cHowever, stakeholders are to note that there will be no disruption.
