{"id":2022,"date":"2021-02-28T15:30:36","date_gmt":"2021-02-28T14:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=2022"},"modified":"2021-02-28T15:30:36","modified_gmt":"2021-02-28T14:30:36","slug":"fg-reveals-date-lagos-ibadan-expressway-will-be-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/28\/fg-reveals-date-lagos-ibadan-expressway-will-be-completed\/","title":{"rendered":"FG reveals date Lagos-Ibadan expressway will be completed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will be completed in the first quarter of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>He said this during an interview on Bond FM on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the delay in the completion of the project was caused by the government\u2019s inability to shut down the bridge totally.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the 80 kilometres of the 127-kilometre road had been completed, urging road users to be patient with the government.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said, \u201cAs we speak, 80km has been completed. Some of the parts of the road used today have been completed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot shut the road totally. The number of vehicles passing the road is not less than 40,000. We can\u2019t shut Lagos-Ibadan road like that. The road should be completed in 2022. The construction will end in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/27\/breaking-lagos-reopens-third-mainland-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Third Mainland Bridge<\/a> is faster because we had the opportunity of shutting it down totally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reconstruction\/rehabilitation of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was flagged-off in 2013 and was awarded to two firms.<\/p>\n<p>Julius Berger is constructing section one which stretches from Ojota in Lagos to Sagamu Interchange, while RCC is working from the Sagamu Interchange to Ibadan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
