{"id":202234,"date":"2022-07-09T04:38:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-09T03:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=202234"},"modified":"2022-07-09T04:38:48","modified_gmt":"2022-07-09T03:38:48","slug":"autopsy-reveals-lady-found-dead-in-abuja-hotel-was-strangled-to-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/09\/autopsy-reveals-lady-found-dead-in-abuja-hotel-was-strangled-to-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Autopsy reveals lady found dead in Abuja hotel was strangled to death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An autopsy carried out on the corpse of a 21-year-old lady found dead in an Abuja hotel, Esther Isaac, has revealed that she died of \u201csevere asphyxia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asphyxiation occurs when the oxygen supply to the body is restricted which can be due to suffocation, strangulation, drowning, or choking,<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/30\/lady-dies-in-abuja-hotel-brother-accuses-management-of-cover-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Esther reportedly died at the Agete Hotel<\/a>\u00a0in the Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory on February 25, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased&#8217;s brother, Emmanuel had insisted that Esther was murdered and accused the hotel management of covering up by saying that their CCTV was faulty the day Esther lodged in the facility.<\/p>\n<p>But the management of the hotel, in a statement by Babajide Iletogun, said Esther came into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/06\/how-police-abuja-hotel-offered-me-n500000-after-my-sister-died-mysteriously-in-facility-brother\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hotel<\/a> with a male who gave his name as Chukwuemeka Michael but absconded.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part, \u201cOn Friday, February 25, 2022, two guests, a male and a female, came into our hotel between 10 am and 11 am. They asked for rooms and the rooms were shown to them by the porter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018After examining the rooms, they picked room 901. The male guest filled the registration form with the name Chukwuemeka Michael and paid N9, 000 being the charge for the room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iletogun, however, said the CCTV in the hotel had been faulty since January 2022, adding that efforts by the technicians to restore it before the incident didn\u2019t yield result.<\/p>\n<p>However, a copy of the autopsy revealed that Esther was assaulted.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, the autopsy was done at the National Hospital Hospital, Abuja by Dr. P.G Jibrin, a pathologist on June 29, 2022. The report with the certificate number 7986 read, \u201cCause of death: Severe asphyxia. Antecedent causes of death: Strangulation due to physical assault.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a candle light procession would be held in honour of the victim on Friday.
