{"id":202765,"date":"2022-07-11T20:22:26","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T19:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=202765"},"modified":"2022-07-11T20:40:34","modified_gmt":"2022-07-11T19:40:34","slug":"court-remands-31-year-old-man-for-knacking-sex-worker-to-death-in-akure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/11\/court-remands-31-year-old-man-for-knacking-sex-worker-to-death-in-akure\/","title":{"rendered":"31-year-old man remanded for allegedly killing commercial sexworker with intercourse in Akure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Magistrate court sitting in Akure has ordered the remand of a 31-year-old man identified as Dele Ebenezer in police custody over the alleged murder of\u00a0 a sex worker.<\/p>\n<p>Omhenimhen Augustine, the Police Prosecutor informed the court that the accused person allegedly killed Blessing Eze, 47, by having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/09\/i-took-in-and-gave-birth-without-sexual-intercourse-ghanaian-woman-claims\/\">sexual intercourse<\/a> with her.<\/p>\n<p>According to Augustine, the deceased became unconscious during the process which resulted in her death.<\/p>\n<p>The accused person who was alleged to have committed the offence on June 22, 2022, around 4 am at Cool Corner Hotel in Ondo, however, pleaded not guilty but his plea was not taken.<\/p>\n<p>Augustine said the offence contravened Section 316(2) and is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap, 37. Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor hereby urged the court to remand the defendant pending the issuance of the DPP advice.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel to the accused person, C.O Falana prayed the court to make him file a counter-affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>In his ruling, Magistrate O.R Yakubu admitted the accused person to be remanded in police custody and adjourned the case till July 14, 2022, for the court, DPP to argue the remand application.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Magistrate court sitting in Akure has ordered the remand of a 31-year-old man identified as Dele Ebenezer in police custody over the alleged murder of\u00a0 a sex worker.
