Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, a civil rights advocacy group, has urged President Major General Muhammadu Buhari to resign immediately if the job is difficult for him.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Tuesday, HURIWA urged the President to step down in order to lessen the harm his “gross incompetence and dereliction<\/a> of duty would cause the country if he stayed on until May 29th 2023.”<\/p>\n

According to reports, Buhari called his seven years in office “tough” and said he was “eager to go” in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.<\/p>\n

Adding “I am eager to go,” he described his seven years in office as “tough.”<\/p>\n

He made this statement while hosting lawmakers, political leaders, and some APC governors at his home in Daura, Katsina State, during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.<\/p>\n

As the strike entered its sixth month, Buhari also urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities to take into account the plight of the nation’s future generations.<\/p>\n

HURIWA, however, faulted the President\u2019s call on ASUU stating that \u201cthe administration bears the largest chunk of the blame for totally abandoning public tertiary institutions because the children of the President, Governors, Senators, ministers and heads of government agencies are all schooling in foreign educational institutions; including the ugly scenario that the Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly lived in Dubai the United Arab Emirates for the better part of the last seven years of the current administration of her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing the admission by President Muhammadu Buhari that the Presidency is tough and that he is eager to go, a call has gone to President Muhammadu Buhari, from the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria to be honest enough to resign now to minimise the damage his crass incompetence and gross dereliction of duty would cost the Country if he stayed on till May 29th 2023,\u201d the statement further read.<\/p>\n

HURIWA admonished to Buhari to be a statesman by tendering his resignation from office now to stave off greater disasters that await the nation should his rudderless government persists in its infamy, impunity and lawlessness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
