Legal practitioner, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has described Peter Obi and Yusuf Baba-Ahmed as opportunists.<\/p>\n
The former governor and ex-lawmaker are running for the 2023 presidency under the Labour Party (LP) ticket.<\/p>\n
Adegboruwa said the duo used their financial muscles to corner the presidential ticket of the Labour Party which he said is meant for genuine working class people. <\/p>\n
In a statement, Adegboruwa described them as \u201cusurpers with no legitimate party or structure\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said they weren\u2019t different from Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu, All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates.<\/p>\n
He accused the candidates of parading dubious statistics and \u201cgathering a mob support without ideology other than anger against the status quo\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat does Peter Obi offer or represent in present-day Nigeria other than ethnic and religious sentiments?<\/p>\n
\u201cWere those not the same factors that produced the error of the Buhari regime? Are we not to rate aspirants in line with their track records?\u201d<\/p>\n
Adegboruwa further questioned the inspiration in Obi\u2019s 8-year adventure in Anambra State?<\/p>\n
The SAN said after the gruesome murder of Harira Jibril in Anambra, Obi neither visited the family nor issue a statement in condemnation.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo we now hand over Nigeria to opportunists or inventors of commercial degrees?\u201d, the rights activist quipped.<\/p>\n
He added that Obi would not have emerged \u201cas the disgruntled representative\u201d of the LP if PDP\u2019s umbrella shaded him.<\/p>\n
Adegboruwa also chided LP promoters \u2013 Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) \u2013 for failing to engage in meaningful struggle since the APC assumed power.<\/p>\n
\u201cI cannot see the benefit for Nigeria in the Obi\/Baba-Ahmed stillborn ticket, neither do I discern any marked difference between Atiku, Obi and Tinubu.\u201d<\/p>\n
