{"id":204718,"date":"2022-07-20T10:03:47","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T09:03:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=204718"},"modified":"2022-07-20T10:03:47","modified_gmt":"2022-07-20T09:03:47","slug":"nnpc-we-did-not-direct-oil-marketers-to-hike-petrol-price","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/20\/nnpc-we-did-not-direct-oil-marketers-to-hike-petrol-price\/","title":{"rendered":"NNPC: We did not direct oil marketers to hike petrol price"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has declined directing marketers to engage in an upward review of price and pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS) also known as petrol.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that it was reported on Tuesday July 19, that the\u00a0NNPC had\u00a0in a notice to oil marketers, approved an upward review in the pump price from N165 per litre to N179 per litre as well as the ex-depot price from N148.17 to N167 per litre.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to this in an interview with TheCable,\u00a0\u00a0Garba-Deen Muhammad, NNPC\u2019s spokesperson said the oil firm does not function as a regulator and consequently does not set prices for petrol.<\/p>\n<p>He said;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/19\/breaking-buhari-attends-unveiling-of-nnpc-limited\/\">NNPC<\/a> no longer approves pump price review. That is the work of the midstream and downstream authority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no idea. They are the ones that tell you what price regime the government has approved, not NNPC. NNPC has already exited all that situation.
