{"id":204720,"date":"2022-07-20T09:48:25","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T08:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=204720"},"modified":"2022-07-20T09:48:25","modified_gmt":"2022-07-20T08:48:25","slug":"well-challenge-adelekes-victory-in-court-oyetola-campaign-dg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/20\/well-challenge-adelekes-victory-in-court-oyetola-campaign-dg\/","title":{"rendered":"We\u2019ll challenge Adeleke\u2019s victory in court \u2014 Oyetola campaign DG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The declaration of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the new governor-elect of Osun State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may be challenged in the law court as sources disclosed that, the All Progressives Congress (APC) legal team has started working on the legal process.<\/p>\n<p>It was learnt that the APC has hired senior advocates in the legal profession and legal icons in the state to challenge the PDP\u2019s victory in court if anomalies are detected in the results announced by INEC on the outcome of the just concluded governorship election.<\/p>\n<p>Close sources hinted that some of the legal practitioners to be engaged for the assignment had been contacted and are now mapping out strategies on how the matter would be approached.<\/p>\n<p>Already, the legal team is said to have started with the thorough scrutiny of some results from the polling units with intention of challenging them in court if irregularities are discovered at the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, the director-general of Oyetola\u2019s campaign organisation in the last election, Senator Ajibola Basiru, confirmed the development. When asked, whether the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/20\/apc-chieftain-abducted-police-hunt-for-kidnappers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">APC<\/a> would challenge the result in court, he said, \u201cdefinitely, but, we want to thoroughly examine the outcome of the results from one polling unit to the other to ascertain how to approach the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The legal luminary also hinted that in no distant time, they would forward a letter to the electoral body to demand for certified true copies of result sheets for them compare them with the ones signed by polling agents, adding that he would reserve further comments on the matter until they are through with the preliminary legal work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The declaration of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the new governor-elect of Osun State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may be challenged in the law court as sources disclosed that, the All Progressives Congress (APC) legal team has started working on the legal process.
